Heterogeneous Group Dynamics Training

Now more than ever, agencies are increasingly looking to fill their ranks with a diverse officer corps that reflects the populations they serve. This includes women and those from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds as well as other minority groups. As a result, law enforcement agencies are increasingly a heterogeneous groups which must function homogeneously.

Women and minority police officers bring a valuable skill set to policing but also face unique challenges. These challenges include gender and racial discrimination, peer acceptance, sexual and language harassment, balancing family with career, tokenism and under-representation.

Through our comprehensive Group Dynamics Training, Daninger Solutions assists departments to navigate the difficult terrain of heterogeneous group functioning and fully incorporate their minority and female officers into the officer corps. Our GDT training can include:

  • Sexual Harassment Training

  • Sexual and Racial Sensitivity Training

  • Group Think Awareness and Avoidance Training

  • In-group/Out-group Awareness and Avoidance Training

  • Relationship and Mentorship Development Training

Since each department has particular challenges, the course can be uniquely tailored to meet the needs of each particular client.

For example, Police Chiefs often report a shortage of qualified female and racially-diverse applicants. To increase the pool of qualified applicants and/or to provide spaces of full incorporation for their current minority and female officers into the officer corps, agencies must send a clear message that women and minorities are welcome and valued. By providing a such a work environment, law enforcement can harness the benefits of the unique skill set minority and female officers can contribute to their departments and communities.
